WARRANTY TERMS

Onyx guarantees that with the correct application of Onyx Coating performed or checked by an authorized retailer / applicator, the car's paint will remain protected against, among other things:

 

  • Oxidation

  • Loss of gloss

  • UV damage

  • Acid rain

  • Varnish calcification (grease deposition)

 

If it has been shown that treated varnish is adversely affected by exposure to these conditions or in normal use, which is evident from a visible loss of lacquer gloss and provided that all the conditions in this guarantee mentioned below are met, such conditions will be repaired, corrected or cleaned. (of your choice) free of charge by Onyx Scandinavia, regional distributor or its authorized retailers / dealers. Onyx Scandinavia reserves the right to try repairs through professional surface conditioning / treatment before any painting of the damaged area.

 

Current vehicle and coverage period

Coverage conditions within the warranty period when annual service requirements are met (see: Service program ). Failure to perform annual inspection / service will irrevocably void the warranty.

General terms

  1. Any treatment / finishing of Onyx products must be applied by an approved / authorized applicator to obtain a warranty. If treatment, re-treatment, repair or other work is performed on the vehicle by persons who are NOT approved / authorized details or dealers of Onyx Scandinavia, the warranty is invalid.

  2. The vehicle must remain registered for legal, non-commercial use throughout the warranty period.

  3. Only vehicles registered as passenger cars can be guaranteed. Commercial vehicles of any kind are not covered.

  4. Vehicles older than 3 months must have a machine polish performed by an approved applicator before application. Newer cars may also need machine polishing if recommended by the approved applicator.

  5. In case of damage / repair on the surface (for example repair after an accident), the vehicle must be taken to an approved applicator for re-treatment of the repaired area within 30 days, at the owner's own expense. The damage must be reported to Onyx Scandinavia or an authorized dealer within 10 days after the damage occurred.

  6. The guarantee is registered in the car owner's name and is not transferable.

  7. If a new treatment is required (for example in the event of an accident), you or your insurance company are responsible for the costs of any re-treatment. The price for re-treatment is determined by Onyx Scandinavia or an authorized retailer / dealer.

  8. The exterior paint of the vehicle must be maintained and washed regularly, in accordance with the recommendations given by Onyx Scandinavia ( Maintenance Guide ), to prevent contamination (at least once a week). After washing, make sure that there is no water left on the coated surface, especially during the first two to three (2-3) weeks after application. In the event that your vehicle is exposed to water with a high mineral content ("hard" or "soft" water) such as from any automated car wash, sprinkler system or tap water in some areas, all coated areas must be wiped as soon as possible with a microfiber towel. All water as an air dryer can form visible rings (water-spotting), which should be wiped off with vinegar until the mineral deposit is removed, and as soon as possible after it is discovered.

  9. Registration must be completed with correct and accurate data within 1 week from the date of application, and the confirmation number must be stored. Registration is done at an authorized retailer / dealer.

  10. If private individuals perform the treatment, the applicable procedures ( Instructions for Application ) must be followed carefully.

 

Exception (warranty does not apply)

  1. Where the owner has considered to have been careless, negligent or failed to maintain the treated surface properly.

  2. Customer negligence (eg lack of maintenance of treated surface) leads to invalidation of warranty.

  3. Existing damage to the painted surface (swirl marks, marring, scratches, scrapers, etc.) or other treated parts, materials or work performed by the car manufacturer, their dealer, third party supplier or other retailers not authorized by Onyx Scandinavia.

  4. Damage to the coated surface due to incorrect manual washing technique, automatic car washing (not recommended methods), brushes or contaminated washing tools that can cause wear, or damage caused by a third party not authorized by Onyx Scandinavia.

  5. Water stains - Water stains caused by hard water (rare in Scandinavia), which can leave a stain when dried on the paint.

  6. Defects in clearcoat - flaking, dandruff or fading of clearcoat or any condition covered by the car manufacturer's warranty.

  7. Damage caused by collision, accidental damage, vandalism, fire, hail, surface rust or the vehicle manufacturer's fault, or defects covered by the manufacturer's or dealer's warranty.

  8. Areas that have not been re-treated after paint repair.

Annual inspection

  1. Annual inspection and inspection are required to ensure that the seal is maintained and that the care of the vehicle is carried out correctly. Annual control washing must be performed by an authorized applicator within 30 days before 1 year has elapsed since the treatment. In the event of failure to perform an annual inspection, the warranty will lapse.

  2. A service fee of NOK 980 will be charged for the annual control wash and inspection, which also includes: Exterior wash, decontamination, gloss renewal, repair / refresh and inspection.  

  3. Annual inspection is registered by an approved dealer.

Limit of liability (requirements)

  1. Damage or defects covered by this warranty must be registered with an authorized applicator within ten days of the damage / defect occurring. Failure to comply will result in the warranty not being valid.

  2. Any dispute that arises under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the law of Norway, the parties involved agree to comply with Norwegian law.

  3. Reminders via e-mail and / or telephone for annual inspections are a service we offer, if you do not receive a reminder, it is still the customer's responsibility to follow the service program.

  4. Warranty claims must be notified by e-mail or in writing to Onyx Scandinavia or to an authorized retailer / dealer within ten days after the customer first became aware of the conditions.

  5. The guarantee is only valid if:

a) After notification of warranty claims, the vehicle is made available to Onyx Scandinavia or an authorized retailer / dealer at a given time at a time that is mutually practical for Onyx Scandinavia and the customer; and

b) the vehicle is then made available to Onyx Scandinavia, an authorized dealer or other Onyx Scandinavia selector so that re-treatment, cleaning, repair or other work can be performed.

  1. All work covered by the warranty must be performed by Onyx Scandinavia, an authorized retailer / dealer or the person / company selected by Onyx Scandinavia. If treatment, repair or other work is carried out on the vehicle without the approval of Onyx Scandinavia or an authorized dealer, the warranty will be invalid.

 

Definitions

Authorized applicator / retailer / dealer - An independent company or company approved by Onyx Scandinavia or authorized dealer for the use of Onyx products.

 

To make a warranty claim, contact your authorized dealer or Onyx Scandinavia (in writing).

Geographical constraints

Onyx Scandinavia only provides warranty coverage in Scandinavia. If you live in a country outside these areas, contact your local distributor or authorized dealer for warranties offered through them.

Accept terms and guidelines

By shopping with us, you agree that these terms and recommendations have been read, understood and accepted. It is the customer's own responsibility to follow the recommended instructions and guidelines when using Onyx products. If faults, defects or damage occur as a result of incorrect use of the products, the customer is responsible for damage, cost and / or any repairs.​
